Side Hustle For Money

If you have found yourself daydreaming about breaking out of the 9-5 grind, making some income on the side to help pay down debt, or even to save up for a big purchase, you’re going to want to start paying attention. Our friends, Cody from Fly to FI and Julie from Millennial Boss, have spent countless hours put together an extensive course on how to side hustle for money. This course breaks it down into categories like making money blogging, from Etsy, or also freelancing. So, you get to choose the content that would best serve you. What the hell do these people know about this stuff though?

Cody

Our friendship with Cody began last year when I met him at CampFI South in September. He had just started at his first big job out of college. So far so good, right? Well, he was already feeling the pressure and constraints that come from working for someone else. The next time we saw him at CampFI South East in January, he informed us that he was quitting his job. Cody is no stranger to hard work and hustle, though. He jumped right into planning and going on the Financial Freedom Book Tour with Grant Sabatier, which was a huge undertaking.  The kid went from zero to $2,000 in blogging income in his first 8 months, and has continued to grow a successful blog, podcast, freelancing gigs, and based on my experience this course is going to be wildly successful.

 Julie

Julie has recently come out of the shadow of anonymity. You may know her as J., the creator of Millennial Boss, and host of the FIRE Drill Podcast. She has created an incredible community around both her blog and podcast, and this is all while working a full time job. Oh, and I forgot to mention that she is killing the Etsy game. The blog, Millennial Boss, generates tens of thousands of dollars of income every year. She even surpassed $7,000 of revenue in one month! To continue the trend, her Etsy shop brings in hundreds of dollars every month. The beauty of it is, once the product is created and listed, she spends no additional time on it and just gets to watch the money roll in. You could say she is extensively qualified to create a course on side hustles for money.

The Course

I was lucky enough to get early access to the “Blogging for Profit” course as a tester. The content is literally incredible. I should mention, we’ve been blogging for two years and This. Shit. Blew. My. Mind. I didn’t realize how many things we were doing wrong or just incorrectly. Every video I watched, I gleaned at least one or two things that we could improve on. Emily came home from work, and I straight barraged her at the door about all the things we need to change. It is so exciting knowing how much better we could be doing with not a lot of effort. So, don’t be surprised if one day you come and our site is completely different.

Who’s it For?

Importantly, the course is appropriate for literally anyone. Just wanting to get started and have no idea where to begin? They have videos breaking down literally every step of that process. Been blogging for years, but you aren’t getting any traffic and would like to boost that? They break down SEO, and step by step processes to drive new readers to your site.

What’s it Cover?

The great part about the course is that they broke it down in sections, probably for people like me. There are also assignments and printable session plans to keep you on track. At the beginning, the course is order of operations because certain things need to happen first. Like choosing what to blog about, setting up the hosting site, picking the right plug-ins, or even creating a professional email account. As it gets further along, the content is grouped by category. For example: social media utilization, content planning, monetization strategies, community building, and many other topics.

The course is laid out very clearly with the order of things, but you can jump around if you are comfortable with certain topics. I thought I was comfortable, but I realized these two are on a whole other level, so I went back and watched them all to get as much info as I could. They even have little assignments at the end of certain sections to help ensure that you are getting as much out of the course as you can, and also to foster the community building aspect of what they are doing.

On the topic of community, you also get exclusive access to their private Facebook group where people going through the course get to ask questions, provide feedback, share successes, etc. They even have  professionals in the group to answer any of the questions you may have. The blogging group will have pro bloggers that can help with the tech or content side. The Etsy group will have professionals helping you with the right programs to create the perfect digital download. And the freelancing group will have pros in there to answer questions, whatever those may be.
